AVENCHES – FÊTE ET FESTIVAL

One of the last music festivals of the season in the Lake Geneva Region brings the Avenches roman amphitheatre alive in August, with concerts featuring international artists and performed in a fantastic atmosphere at this majestic historic site.

In August, the magnificent roman amphitheatre of Avenches lends its history-laden stones to the Rock Oz’Arènes festival, the smallest of the major festivals. Now well-known throughout Switzerland, this festival offers a varied programme of crazy rock, soulful blues, lively pop, cosmic electro and dancy reggae, bringing the place alive for an already captivated audience.

Although the Avenches roman amphitheatre now plays host to several musical and cultural events, when this festival was created about twenty years ago, Rock Oz’Arènes was ahead of its time. The beauty of this historic place, its layout and its acoustics – not forgetting the fantastic atmosphere – make this a not-to-be-missed summer event in the region.
